How to Write a Job Getting Resume

Are you a recent college graduate, struggling to craft the resume that will showcase your skills and help you land the job you deserve?

Hi, I’m LaTisha Styles.

LaTisha Styles
After graduating from college (twice!) I found myself without a job and deeply discouraged.
I know how it feels to apply for job after job and feel like you’re dropping your resume in a black hole.

During that time I was job searching, I contacted everyone I knew to ask if they knew of any openings and I worked part-time gigs.

I delivered sandwiches and worked as a personal assistant earning no more than ten dollars an hour part time.

One night, I overheard my mom on the phone with a relative,

“I don’t know what Tisha’s doing,” she said.

“Yeah, she has two degrees but she’s not using them.”

I was devastated.

I knew I wanted to work but I felt helpless.

I wanted to use those degrees I had worked so hard for.

Those degrees that I paid thousands of dollars for.

I kept waiting by the phone, and each time it rang, I was filled with anticipation.

Would this call be the one I had been anxiously waiting for?

Sadly, it was not.

I had enough. It was time to take action.

So I began to tweak my resume.

I changed a few words here…

… added a couple of phrases there.

And instead of searching for jobs with a specific title,

I began to apply for jobs that matched my skills.

And my brand new resume emphasized those skills boldly.

I felt like a brand new person.

My confidence soared and suddenly…

I got the call I had been waiting for!

I confidently showcased my skills in two interviews, one by phone and one in person.

The interviewer told me, “Your resume is very impressive.”

I couldn’t help but smile.

Two days later I received an offer and did my happy dance.

I landed the job!

Immediately, I ran to tell my mom.

Her face lit up with joy.

I could see she was proud of me.

I made it.

And I want to help you snag your first job without going through the same struggle that I did.

You don’t have to get more experience.

You don’t have to spend hours searching for the right words to type.

Stop trying to do it yourself!

I’ll tell you exactly how to do it.

Make your parents proud when you land your first job and support yourself.

Effortlessly pay your student loans with dollars that you earn yourself.

Finally have the extra money to enjoy a night out with friends.

Feel confident enough to reward yourself when you get that first paycheck, because you did it!

It’s ok if you haven’t gotten the job that you deserve yet.

It’s not your fault.

You simply didn’t have the tools before.

That’s what I’m here for.
